Sensitive gym guy

Yesterday I was walking through the gym and this big, tough-looking guy walked towards me with his iPod on. As he walked by I heard the music from his iPod and yes, this huge muscle-bound guy was blaring...My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. I just had to laugh and share with you.

I'm so delinquent

Here is a photo from when it snowed a few weeks ago. Grant and Maggie tried to make a snow man but the snow that morning was so dry it wouldn't stick! So they ended up making a snow cone (seriously, a great big, white, pointy cone). Sadly for you, we didn't get a photo. But luckily you get to look at this cute photo!
It was so much fun watching her enjoy the snow. I still remember when I was 4 or 5 (we were living in Colorado) one morning getting up early with my dad and making a snow man.

New Orleans Weekend

Some of you have asked about our weekend with Lindsay and Jim in New Orleans. We were really hoping to have them move back to Nashville with the start of her residency but it looks like she'll be going to Miami. I just keep telling her it's only a delay. I know they will be here soon (not soon enough for me and my family!) We took a few photos but none that I like enough to post! Sorry, Grant!

Grant's mom and dad kept Maggie while we were in New Orleans, sparing her the 8-hour car drive and having a really fun time. Here are a few photos from their visit.
We got the book "Daddy Has the Chicken Pox" at the library. I thought it would be a funny tale about a dad coping with the chicken pox. It was actually really strange and the little girl was afraid her dad was going to have to go to the hospital. Then she said she knew he was better when he started yelling for the remote control. Somehow Maggie loved it! Poor Carol had to read it a million times.
Maggie and Rusty also shared some quality time on the swing.
Carol also made some of her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies while she was here, took Maggie to the zoo, and made a few trips to Costco (one of Maggie's favorite places!) I'm so lucky to have such great in-laws!

Easter, Part II

Here are a few more Easter photos from Grant's camera!

Egg!
Too bad she had to wear a coat over her gorgeous Easter dress!
Learning how to grill (don't worry, he was very safe with her!)

I just thought this was cute of Jim and Jack.
Have I mentioned Maggie ADORES her cousin?
Maggie got some bubbles in her Easter basket and my mom was really getting into it:)
Had to include one of Maggie enjoying the fruits of her labor:

Hoppy Easter

I know, I know, that's so corny but I just couldn't help myself.

We had a wonderful Easter. Maggie had so much fun with the Easter egg hunt and only needed a little assistance from us. She has basically been in a sugar coma since yesterday but I think she's starting to come down from that.

Here are a few photos that Maggie's Poppy took at his and Mimi's house.
I just wish I had skin and hair like hers:
She has picked up some dirty dancing moves somewhere. I'm still trying to figure out exactly where since it certainly wasn't me or Grant. It's hilarious. She says, "Watch me shake my booty" and then does just that. The sweet women who work at the YMCA nursery want to take her with them to the clubs one night :) The picture doesn't nearly do it justice.
My mom (Mimi) hand-smocked these Easter outfits for Maggie and Jack. She did such a good job! And these two are extremely cute cousins, in my opinion.
Grant took some other cute photos that I hope to post in the next few days and also some from our recent trip to see my sister Lindsay and her husband Jim in New Orleans.

I am fast!

Here are the photos I just promised! Here are Maggie and Grant swinging at church. Let's be honest. Even grownups like to swing.
Here is Maggie with her friend Matthew from church.
I carry my camera with me all the time and so I had it with us at Target the other day. Maggie pulled all the dolls off the shelves and lined them up on the floor. I thought it was funny.
Here is Maggie with her Aunt Lindsay. Aren't they cute?

Maggie would never take a pacifier as a baby (although we tried!) but since she turned 2 she has decided she wants one. She will put anything in her mouth and call it her pacifier. Here she's using an outlet child-proofing thingy as one.

We met our friends Marc & Elise and their son, Cole, at Whole Foods. Maggie and Cole pushed the carts around, knocked over a few people, and generally had a good time. I just love these little carts.
She looks like such a big kid when she brushes her teeth.
This pre-haircut photo shows off her mad banjo skills. You should hear her :)
And finally, here is Maggie in her ballet class. She's the one in the blue leotard/tutu. She LOVED it and, well, so did I. I spent the entire first class just smiling and giggling at how fun it is to have a girl! The photo's not great b/c I had to take it through the glass door.
Okay, Amanda and Elise, you can get off my back now :)

I just remembered another funny thing Maggie's been doing lately. Sometimes when Maggie is eating her cereal she will drop one on her chair and if we find it a few minutes later I'll say, "Bonus!" and pop it in her mouth. She's really embraced this concept and now she will pick up OLD cereal off of the car floor or wherever and say "Bonus" right before she gobbles it up. I'm trying to teach her the difference between fresh bonuses and old, yucky bonuses. Today she was riding in the car with Grant when he noticed she was chewing on something.
"Maggie," he asked her, "what are you eating?"
"Bonus!" she replied.
Let's just hope she doesn't "bonus" anything really old or gross. I bet my mom and grandma are appalled reading this. Sorry, guys.

Sorry

I know it's been a long time since I updated and I feel like such a hypocrite because I always get annoyed when I check people's blogs and they haven't posted in a while. Grant's looking at some newer photos right now and as soon as he's done I'll post them.

Meanwhile, Maggie has been especially cute and funny lately. She's been into rhyming and matching AND she has a joke she likes to tell. Here it is:
What does the French cow say?

Moo la la! (Picture her doubled over with laughter). Grant and I laughed heartily at first but now we are perfecting our fake laughs. Although sometimes it still makes us laugh.

As for rhyming, she makes up funny names for things, like, "Ham" has become "Hammy bo bammy" and instead of saying she wants, say, a sandwich, she'll say she wants a tranwich or something equally nonsensical. And sometimes she mixes the letters up altogether. Yesterday she asked me to paint her nails with "poe tail nolish". She also wanted us to paint her muscles pink with nail polish. We can't figure that one out.

Last night as I was putting her to bed she said, "Mama, if I see a bug in my crib I'll just talk to you on the monitor and say 'Mama there's a bug in my crib!'" For the record, we have never found a bug in her bed. But I would appreciate her letting me know if there IS one in there.

As for matching, if we give her a pink plate and a pink fork she gets really excited about them matching.

Finally, is there anyone out there who would be interested in helping me (more accurately - me helping you) sew Maggie's flower girl dress for her Uncle Chris and Kajsa's wedding?

Okay, look for those photos soon!
