We use it every day on our computers, we see it on street signs -- and we take it for granted. Now, Gary Hustwit's unique documentary introduces us to Helvetica, whose readability has made it the most popular font in the world. Interviews with designers and artists offer insight into the development, use and universal acceptance of Helvetica as the typeface of choice for everything from writing letters to creating corporate logos.
Wow. Doesn't that sound exciting? Want to come over when we watch it?
To be honest I just watched the trailer for it and it kind of does look interesting, but that description just sounds awful to me. Grant and I have an "every other one" strategy for our movies on Netflix and while he often picks dry, esoteric documentaries or foreign films (some of which I like), I myself have been know to pick soppy, cliched chick flicks (some of which he likes). So I'd say it's a pretty fair trade :)

That is HILARIOUS that Grant picked that movie. I saw it on Netflix and thought, "Hmm...that looks really interesting, but I know Jim will never go for it." I loved my journalism class on fonts in college because it really is so interesting why we use different fonts the way we do. Maybe you'll have to invite us over when you watch it! :)
Ah ... I'm familiar with that font .... but a movie about it? Let's just say if you invite us over, let's have dinner and talk ... I'm now officially scared of your movie picks! :)
HOWEVER, Martha and I tend to have the same setup ... and usually the ones that I pick ... aren't good ... She's the movie queen!
Glad to know we aren't the only ones suffering from netflix-related marital discord :)
OH MY GOSH...that is so us to have that kind of diversity in our picks on Netflix. We keep going in to update and every time one of us reorganizes the order of them and adds new ones, the other will go in and change it all around! And what does BW want...? It really doesn't even matter I've learned unless it's BluRay. If it's BluRay it could be someone reading the yellow pages and he'd be more than thrilled!! :)
That a little weird, but if you guys start talking about the "Times New Roman" sequel you're going to start loosing friends. :)
I'm sorry about your power! I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy!....which you are far from. But, you know what I mean! That sucks. and I'm sorry!
